Module Options

  • Eddie - Micro, our smallest Eddie Data Hub.

  • Eddie Data Hub - Multi-slot versions:

    • 4-slot Eddie version can include: power supply card with ethernet port, CPU card, I/O card (i.e. serial card), digital I/O card, possible additional CPU cards.

    • More options for Eddie sizing to come.

Key Features of all

Eddie Data Hubs

  • SW output for re-booting external devices (e.g. sensors connected to Eddie).

  • If power interrupt occurs, the Eddie Data Hub self-restarts automatically.

  • Includes a Real-time clock so you can time stamp the data collected with Eddie Data Hub.

  • Fast light-weight operating language that can be developed on the Eddie Data Hub (i.e. No off-line compiling required).

  • Naturally multi-processing and multi-tasking. This means all the smart components which includes smart probes, CPUs and some of the cards, all work seamlessly.

Power for all Eddie Data Hubs

Require +24V DC provided by a separate off-the-shelf power supply which converts 240VAC to +24VDC.

If a power interrupt occurs, the Eddie Data Hub self-restarts automatically.

Communications Available with Different Eddie Data Hub Modules

Send collected data to the cloud or your own remote server for offline use: Eddie Data Hub has multiple communications options available including wifi, lorawan, ethernet. Just let us know what communications you need and we can advise which cards are required.

Eddie - Micro includes:

  • USB connection to your laptop/desktop.

2-slot Eddie includes:

  • CPU card has:

    • USB port

    • A probe port with 2 serial interfaces I2C (used for probes on the benchtop or close by to Eddie Data Hub) and CAN (used for probes >1.8m away from Eddie Data Hub).

4-slot Eddie includes:

  • Power card has ethernet port and a four port Ethernet switch

  • CPU card has:

    • USB port

    • A probe port with 2 serial interfaces I2C (used for probes on the benchtop or close by to Eddie Data Hub) and CAN (used for probes >1.8m away from Eddie Data Hub).

  • 2 spare card ports which could add additional communications or I/O.

Note: the term “slots” just refers to the spaces for cards to plug into the Eddie backplane. So more slots means more card spaces.

CPU Options for all Eddie Data Hubs

CPU51:

CPU53

  • Similar to CPU51 however some component versions are different.

Note: more CPU cards are being added to our library of options.

Probe Options for all Eddie Data Hubs

Eddie is designed with probes which can connect to the Eddie Data Hub to make it easy to connect your sensors.

Probes can be daisy chained together so you can connect more probes to your Eddie as needed!

Our current library of Probe Options is described below. More details is to be added soon.

Need a custom probe for your sensors to interface with Eddie, just contact Bored Owl with your requirements.

Probe Type 1:

  • 1 of Analog Voltage (V) input

  • 1 of Analog Current (I) input

  • 2 of Digital inputs (more detail to be added).

  • Connectors for Analog inputs are screw terminals

  • Precision inputs i.e. 24 bits from microvolts to tens of volts.

Probe Type 2:

  • 4 of Relay contacts

  • Connectors for Relay contacts are screw terminals.

Probe Type 4:

  • 4 of Analog Inputs (Temperature or Voltage)

  • 4 of Analog Outputs

  • Connectors for this probe are micro-fit connectors. Micro-fit connectors on fly leads can be provided on request for this probe to connect to your sensors if they are a different connector type.

  • Silicon sensor temperature sensors are available for this probe - 0C .. 100C

Probe Type 5:

  • 4 of Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) with logic level outputs and Digital Interface (SPI)

    or..

  • 4 of Hobby Servo Interfaces

  • Connectors for this probe are standard hobby servo connectors.

Probe Type 5P:

  • 4 of Power Pulse-Width-Modulated (PWM) includes FET drivers, up to 10 Amps, 24V per channel

  • Connectors for this probe are barrier connectors.

Note: more Probes are being added to our library of options. Contact Bored Owl to discuss your requirements.
